5" Freestyle

A 5-inch freestyle quad built around a BetaFPV F722 stack and 2306 motors. Tuned for the alpine terrain around Chur — tight gaps, short grass fields, a lot of wind.

Not a racing build. The goal was something durable enough to survive rocky landings and responsive enough to make the most of the short calm windows between gusts in Graubünden. Current frame is the third iteration — the first two met rocks at speed.

Betaflight blackbox logs reviewed after every session. The tune has evolved significantly over the past year.

5" freestyle: HQ 5x4.3x3 vs. Gemfan 51433 — alpine conditions

Ran both props back to back on the same tune in the same field. HQ wins in wind. Gemfan has better punch in calm air. I'm keeping HQs on this build.

5" freestyle: PID retune after frame swap

Swapped to a stiffer carbon frame after a crack in the old one. Had to retune from scratch — the resonance profile was completely different.
